Best Beaches In North Lake Tahoe
Common's Beach
Guests staying in or around Tahoe City should be sure to add Common's Beach to their itinerary. It's an easy place to spend the day, with plenty of great lakefront restaurants nearby as well as kayak and paddleboard rentals available. Common's Beach is also one of the best places to find live music in North Lake Tahoe! The summer-long series Concerts at Commons Beach is a local favorite. This 12-week session features everything from funk to alt-rock and is a favorite among locals. Best of all, it's totally free!
Kings Beach State Recreation Area
If you're staying in Kings Beach, you've got a gorgeous stretch of shore not far from your front door! We have a great selection of lakefront properties in Kings Beach, located just steps from the water. If you're visiting in the summer, you won't want to miss Music on the Beach, a free summer-long concert series that takes place at Kings Beach State Recreation Area. You'll get to enjoy excellent music, good vibes, and beer from Alibi Ale Works (one of the best breweries in North Lake Tahoe).
Waterman's Landing
One of the most iconic North Lake Tahoe shops is Waterman's Landing. This famous paddle board shop sits on a stretch of shore that is open to the public. Rent a couple of boards and enjoy a day of paddling, swimming, and relaxing under the gorgeous sun! The waters of North Lake Tahoe are known for being crystal clear, so you'll be able to see the rock formations at the bottom of the lake. While you're there, sign up for a SUP yoga class from Watermanâs Landing! Without a doubt, it's one of our favorite things to do in North Lake Tahoe. When you're hungry, head to the cafe for some organic coffee, breakfast, or lunch.
Sand Harbor Beach
Sand Harbor, a Nevada State Park, is an excellent option for anyone traveling with kids. With the $10 admission, you'll be able to enjoy the park's restrooms, barbeques, boat ramps, and showers. Sand Harbor is not a pet-friendly beach, so Fido will have to stay behind. (By the way, did you know we have the biggest selection of dog-friendly homes in the region?) There are paddleboard and kayak rentals available at the park, so you can participate in two of our favorite water-based activities!
Secret Cove
If you're feeling a little adventurous, head over to Secret Cove on the east side of Lake Tahoe. This is one of the most picturesque beaches in Lake Tahoe and is just a short distance from Sand Harbor Beach. The main difference between the two spots is that Secret Cove is clothing-optional. Yes, that's right this local secret also happens to be a nude beach. The secluded location, crystal-clear waters, and amazing hiking trails make this a favorite among residents. Secret Cove is pet-friendly, though it's asked that everyone take extra care to clean up after themselves when visiting. While there is a self-appointed mayor of the cove who helps keep it pristine, it's really a joint effort by all of the beachgoers.
